Student Assignment #1

Wednesday 3/18

Assignment #2

Please get yourself set up on a platform called “Flipgrid” through office365.
I have created a digital classroom which will enable us to share and upload audio and video.
Your first recording assignment is to play a 2 octave D Major Scale and Arpeggio. Submit a video of your recording.

My classroom site is: https://flipgrid.com/schroter
The first assignment is posted at: https://flipgrid.com/da0c3442

(alternative assignment for those without instruments is below)

—————————————

Thursday 3/19

I posted a new topic/video to check in with orchestra students. https://flipgrid.com/e77028b6

Thank you for submitting your recordings of your scales. I am still going through them, and learning how to use Flipgrid myself! If you have not already submitted your recording, please do so today. If you have submitted, thank you!

Today I would like for everybody to practice through ‘Pirates.’ I will be more specific regarding upcoming playing assessments, but for now all students should work on NOTE MAPPING.  If you have your sheet music, you can write your finger patterns in.

Alternative assignment #2
For those of you who do not have your instrument at home, this is your Alternate Assignment #2.

You will be doing a timed note-reading exercise, based on your clef. Once you have completed your timed challenge, please take a screen shot of your score, in such a way that you can upload a video of yourself with your score. (I still want to make sure everyone can log in and use these functions, for future use)

1. Set up / log in to the digital classroom on Flipgrid that I set up yesterday.
2. Click the appropriate link below  to get started on your timed challenge.
3. Get a score of 80% or higher, then take a picture or a screen shot of it.
4. Submit a short video clip of yourself showing your score.

Friday, 3/20

Hello!
Please turn in Assignment #2 if you have not done so already!

For today’s orchestra activity, I want you to learn some important vocabulary words that are specific to orchestra bowing styles and musical notation. Please read through each of the lists below. Some of these terms will be familiar to you, while others might be a new concept.  There will be an orchestra vocab assessment next week.

Monday – Wednesday,  3/23 – 3/25

Hello Mustang Orchestra! Here are your activities for the first part of the week:

All Students:  Study your 3 vocabulary lists that were posted on Friday.   Do this each day.

Students with an Instrument at home:

  1. Create a practice journal.
  2. I would like for you to log a minimum of 30 minutes of practice time each day.
  3. Please log your practice times, and a brief note about what you focused on during practice time.
  4. Have your parent sign-off each day.

Students with No Instrument at home: Repeat Alternative assignment #2 each day.  This is to make sure that you are READING music each day.  Just like other reading and comprehension skills, we need to make sure to practice musical literacy.

There are a handful of orchestra members who I have not heard anything from, so I will be trying to reach those students over the next few days.

There are also still some students who have done assignment #1, but not assignment #2. If you are in this situation, I’ll try to reach out to see if you need help.

Don’t forget to sign up for our orchestra flipgrid, if you haven’t already done so.
